Taxi driver is one of the most celebrated movies of all time, the film gained critical praise and more importantly introduced Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro as film icons. Personally, being one of my favorite movies, I love everything about Taxi Driver; the cast, settings, art direction, the Bernard Herrmann composed soundtrack and how can you forget the “are you talking to me” scene!?
If you’ve seen the movie, you must remembered Travis Bickle, the main character and thinks “how cool is that clothes he wears”, the M-65 jacket, the tanker jacket, flannel and checkered shirt, jeans, etc. Thanks to a Japan based brand, The Real McCoys, you can live up your fantasies as Travis Bickle. They manufactured a collection based on the clothes that Robert De Niro wears on the movie, from jackets to boots and i have to say the outcome is pretty authentic. The Real McCoys has been known to be one of the best producer of military and traditional American workwear inspired clothing in Japan.

Been looking for the perfect shirt lately. A lot of brands have been on my radar, Steven Alan, 45rpm, Band of Outsider, w+h, EG and many more. After considering its pros and cons, I have to say the selection from Gitman Bros. is the best one yet (Steven Alan being the closest contender). Their Gitman vintage line is flawless. The master shirt makers at Gitman dusted off old-line books to curate an authentic interpretation of the past by selectively appropriating their favorite fabrics and having them remade (Spring/Summer 2009, for example, is recreated from Spring/Summer 1982). Producing washed Oxfords, muted madras and bright plaids – but with a contemporary twist, featuring a slimmer fit and nuanced details. You can get them online at blackbird.
Here’s the latest interesting project by Shawn Stussy that everyone has to look out for, though not so many details have been revealed up to this point but the fact definitely worth mentioning. As acknowledged by him at the recently launched blog of his, the workboot that he tried to create will be regarded as something in between the regular sneakers and Red Wings. The workboot will also feature a thick, fine leather to give it a sleek and refined look. I certainly think that the overall shoes look grand, another solid effort from the living legend.
